Green, complete in 4 volumes. This was published in 1895 by Harper & Brothers, Franklin Square, NY. Contents include history, maps, artwork, portraits, inventions, creations, etc. Including illustrations on most pages and inserted color plates. Vol 2 – 1336 to The Reformation. Vol 3 – Puritan England to The Revolution. Vol 4 – The Revolution to Modern England. After each table of contents is a list of illustrations with notes. There is a gorgeous, large foldout map of Old London Bridge across from the title page in volume 3. The books are in very good condition for age. They are in brown half leather with four embossed ribs and green marbled boards. The spine is embossed in gold lettering. The leather has been treated with Cellugel to minimize deterioration. The endpapers match in the same green marble. The covers are very good with some wear at corners and edges. The outer and inner hinges are intact. The bindings are tight, almost like new. All pages are present and bound. The first blank page of each book is inscribed in lovely handwriting, Mary K. Eagle, Old Mansion, Little Rock, Ark. 1897, From James P. There is no other handwriting in the books. The pages are gilt edged on top. The illustrations are clear. The tissues protecting the color plates are intact. There is light foxing on the first title pages and no other significant foxing on inner pages. There are no page tears or dog ears.
